A trip to London … mm I wish … but maybe the closest I will get to that in Montreal. Brit & Chips with friends before the Jazz Fest (yum!)

What we had: tandoori popcorn shrimp, Haddock fish & chips with maple syrup batter, scotch egg. First off, the fish & chips was so, so good. Same goes for the popcorn shrimp. But, you’re probably wondering, what the heck is a scotch egg? Well, it is basically a hard-boiled egg that has been wrapped in sausage meat, then coated in breading, then deep-fried. Are your arteries clogged yet?  Ever since reading an issue of Bon Appétit that featured scotch eggs, I’ve been wanting to try them. Now, I hardly ever dislike food, but man do I NOT like scotch eggs! They look so yummy, but the appearance is very deceitful! All I can say, they are definitely not for me.

What I should have had but didn’t: Deep-fried “whatever” – One question: what comprises the “whatever”? Just having this on the menu makes you awesome, Brit & Chips.

If you’re looking for good fish & chips in the city, definitely head to Brit & Chips – then consider renting out a bixi bike at the station just outside the restaurant, and riding it up Beaver Hall. Weak stomachs beware :)

  1. Great selection of beers! But how can you not love a scotch egg!? they’re brilliant. And the best British fried thing is deep fried Mars bar. If you like deep fried anything, go to Glasgow!
